Tang Soo do is a combination of indigenous Korean martial arts, Japanese karate forms and techniques,and northern Chinese kung fu with emphasis on powerful striking.
Intricate forms/patterns that teach the student power generation, proper posture, balance, grace and how to move with precision and intent.
Tang soo do combinations give students a way to combine their strikes in a sequence. These sequences combine strikes with many tool of the body and will many times have an underlying tactic or pattern to them. Combinations also test student’s flexibility, control, athletic abilities and balance.
Sparring give students a safe platform to test their techniques and learn how to properly time attacks, use defensive tactics, gage distance, and put together combinations to strike specific targets.
Breaking is an exciting part of traditional Tang Soo Do where students develop their technique and power in given empty hand technique. Student’s develop confidence, commitment, and focus from testing their abilities to break boards, cinder slabs, and other various materials.
